Some modern nonstick pans are labeled dishwasher safe, but frequent machine washing may still shorten the life of the coating.

Strong detergents and repeated high heat can gradually wear down the surface.

Better care

Use a soft sponge, warm  water, and mild dish soap.

Avoid:

Steel wool
Abrasive pads
Harsh cleaners

Let the pan cool before washing to reduce the risk of warping.

5. Items With Adhesive Labels

Glass jars themselves may be  dishwasher safe, but paper labels are another story.

Heat and water can break down labels, leaving:

Sticky glue residue
Paper fragments
Debris in the dishwasher filter

That can create more cleanup than simply removing the label beforehand.

Better care

Soak stubborn labels in warm, soapy water first.

Remove as much paper and adhesive as possible before placing the item in the dishwasher.
