There are few things more unsettling than preparing a meal you have been looking forward to, lifting the lid of the slow cooker, and discovering something that looks completely unexpected.

That is exactly what happened to one home cook after preparing a beef roast.

The roast had been cooking slowly for hours. The kitchen smelled delicious, the meat appeared tender, and everything seemed normal. But when the cook removed the roast from the slow cooker, they noticed strange white, string-like material sticking out of the meat.

At first glance, the pieces looked disturbing.
