Can a Nighttime Drink Clear Cataracts in 6 Hours?
Cataracts can make vision appear cloudy, hazy, or blurred, and they become increasingly common with age. But the claim that a drink or “nighttime ritual” can erase cataracts in six hours is not supported by medical evidence.
A cataract is a clouding of the eye’s natural lens. It does not simply appear and disappear overnight, and drinking water, honey, oils, or herbal mixtures cannot dissolve an established cataract.
What can cause cloudy vision?
Cloudy or blurred vision can have several causes, including:
- Cataracts
- Dry eyes
- Changes in glasses prescription
- Diabetes-related eye problems
- Corneal conditions
- Glaucoma and other eye diseases
That is why persistent changes in vision should be evaluated rather than attributed automatically to cataracts.
What actually treats cataracts?
In the early stages, brighter lighting, updated glasses, and reducing glare may help with symptoms. When cataracts significantly interfere with reading, driving, or everyday activities, cataract surgery is the established treatment. During surgery, the cloudy natural lens is removed and replaced with an artificial lens.
Be careful with homemade eye remedies
Never put honey, oils, plant extracts, or other homemade mixtures directly into the eyes. Even natural ingredients can introduce microorganisms or irritate the delicate surface of the eye.
If someone experiences sudden vision loss, severe eye pain, flashes, a sudden increase in floaters, or a curtain/shadow across their vision, they should seek urgent medical attention.
A healthy diet and good eye care can support overall eye health, but there is no proven food or nighttime drink that removes cataracts within hours.
